TARA WELLBEING COMMUNITY CIC

In December 2021, my life changed in an instant.
Whilst I was out walking, I was struck by a car with such force that I was thrown from the pavement, carried on the bonnet for more than 20 metres, and left with life-changing injuries. In those moments, I genuinely believed I was going to die....
Surviving that accident gave me a second chance, and with that chance came a sense of purpose: to use my experience to help others.
Following my accident, I fought not only to recover physically but also to access the rehabilitation I needed. Despite being involved in a legal claim, finding the right treatment, knowing where to turn, and accessing high-quality rehabilitation was an exhausting and often frustrating journey.
During my recovery, I discovered that too many people face significant barriers to accessing high-quality rehabilitation. People on low and modest incomes can struggle to find the right support, understand their options, or afford the care they need. Too often, people are left to navigate recovery alone.
I also discovered that expectations of rehabilitation can sometimes be far too low. I was frequently told that I should simply be grateful I could walk again. While I was grateful, my goal was always much bigger. I wanted to run, dance, jump, work, and regain the quality of life I had before my accident. Recovery should not just be about surviving—it should be about helping people achieve the best life and movement possible.
Tara Wellbeing Community CIC has been created to bridge that gap.
Our mission is to support ordinary, hardworking people who face barriers to accessing quality rehabilitation, movement education, and wellbeing services. We believe everyone deserves the knowledge, guidance, and support to recover well, move confidently and live healthier lives.
Through community workshops, movement classes, rehabilitation education, pain management programmes, and accessible online resources run by Physiotherapists, Allied Health Professionals and Fitness Professionals we aim to empower people with practical tools to improve their health and wellbeing. We also want to help people better understand their options, advocate for themselves, and access the support they need.
At Tara Wellbeing Community CIC, we believe that quality rehabilitation and wellbeing should not be a privilege reserved for a few. It should be accessible to everyone
What is a Community Interest Company?
Tara Wellbeing Community is a Community Interest Company (CIC), a business created to benefit the community through its activities and services.
Unlike a traditional business that exists primarily to generate profit for its owners, a CIC is legally committed to using its profits and assets to create a positive social impact. This means that the money we earn is reinvested into our mission, helping us expand our services and support more people.
Our work is funded through a combination of donations, grants, fundraising, and income generated from our workshops, classes, and wellbeing services. These funds are reinvested into the organisation to develop new programmes, provide accessible rehabilitation and wellbeing opportunities, and reach more people in our community.
Every contribution, whether through attending a class, making a donation, or supporting our fundraising, helps us continue our mission of making movement, rehabilitation, and wellbeing more accessible to those who need it most.
